Terms & Conditions

1. Who we are

AgricultureToday is an online agricultural newspaper. Our reporters and contributors file daily news, market reports, weather and comment, and the archive stays open to readers. The site is operated as part of the All Farmers, One Platform network; the operator can be reached at [email protected] or through the contact page.

2. Your account

Reading is open to everyone and needs no account. An account is needed to hold a profile and to carry that profile across the partner network. You must give a valid email address, keep your password confidential and accept responsibility for everything done under your account; tell us promptly if you think the password has been compromised. One person may hold one account, and we may merge or close duplicates after writing to you.

3. What you may and may not do

  • Use the site lawfully, and send us only material you have the right to send.
  • Make sure letters, tips and profile content are accurate to the best of your knowledge; do not send material that is defamatory, infringing or private.
  • Do not impersonate anyone, and do not use a profile to misrepresent who you are or who you work for.
  • Do not scrape, resell, systematically extract or mirror articles, photographs or member data.
  • Do not interfere with the service, probe it for weaknesses without our written permission, or reverse-engineer the software beyond what applicable law allows.
  • Do not use contact details obtained from this site to approach people for anything other than the enquiry they made.

4. What you send us

You keep ownership of the material you send us — letters, tip-offs, photographs and profile content — and you grant us a non-exclusive licence to publish, store, reproduce and adapt it (including editing it for length and lawfulness) for operating and promoting the service. We do not undertake to publish everything sent to us, and where we do publish we may refuse, move, hide or remove material without notice where it breaches these Terms, misleads, breaks the law, or is reported by members. Not publishing, or removing, material creates no liability towards you.

5. Our newsroom

Reporting on AgricultureToday is filed by our own reporters and by named contributors. News, market reports and comment are published for information; they are not investment, legal or farm-business advice. We correct an error when it is brought to us and we record the correction. Opinions in columns and letters are the author's own and are not a position of this publication. See our Disclaimer.

6. Market data and its limits

Prices shown on the market board and inside reports are reported figures collected by our desk from the day's trading and published quotes. They are there for information — they are not bids, offers, valuations or a basis for trading. Confirm prices with your local merchant or buyer before you buy or sell, and remember that nothing quoted here is an offer capable of acceptance.

7. Email and the newsletter

Reading the site is free. Account email — sign-up confirmations, password resets and account notices — is sent as needed to run the service and cannot be switched off while an account is open. The newsletter, our morning edition, is opt-in and every issue carries an unsubscribe link. Where we introduce a paid feature, its price appears on screen before you confirm it and nothing is billed until you start it.

8. Intellectual property

The site itself — its design, code, logos, section structure and original editorial text — belongs to us or to our licensors. Material members send us belongs to the member who sent it. You may read, print or share a single article with attribution and a link back; anything else needs our written consent. Details are in the Copyright Notice.

9. Availability

We work to keep the site available around the clock and we plan for maintenance, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. The service may be paused for updates, infrastructure work or events outside our control, and we announce planned downtime on the site where we reasonably can.

10. Suspending and closing an account

We may suspend or close an account that repeatedly breaches these Terms, is used in fraud, or whose owner cannot be reached at the address on file. You may close your own account at any time from your account page; the steps are set out in the Privacy Policy.

11. Liability

We are liable for our own negligence, for fraud and for fraudulent misrepresentation, and nothing here limits a liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of profit, revenue or data, or for the acts and omissions of other members. Where we are liable for anything else, our total liability is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and £100.

12. Complaints

Tell us what went wrong through the contact page and quote the email address on your account. We acknowledge a complaint within two working days and answer it in substance within fourteen. If we cannot settle it, you may refer the matter to the consumer authority of your country; residents of the European Union may also use the Online Dispute Resolution platform.

13. Changes to these Terms and governing law

We may update these Terms as the service changes; the date at the top of this page is the date of the last change, and for material changes we notify members by email before the new terms apply. These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, whose courts hear any dispute, save that the mandatory consumer protections of your own country of residence still apply to you.
